No Better Time to Learn Something New

Get $50 off your first month of lessons with Music & Arts

As a high school administrator, autumn is a very busy time of the year as school starts back up. Typically, I am exhausted and don’t have a lot of spare time to pursue my own interests--this year, more so than ever. So, naturally, I was skeptical when my wife registered me for guitar lessons with Music & Arts. She said it’s because things are so busy and because I am so exhausted, I need to do something just for myself. And, having always wanted to learn guitar, lessons would be perfect.

After only my first lesson, I can once again say my wife was right.

My instructor worked with me to come up with a date and time that worked best for me. It was much easier to fit instructions into my busy week since I didn’t have to drive someplace else--I didn’t even have to leave my house! I got to sit comfortably on my own couch, in my own living room, while video-chatting with my very own instructor.

Once we started my private lesson, my instructor Keith took the time to personalize things by asking me what I wanted to get out of the classes, what kind of music interested me, and what, if any, musical experience I had. Keith did all he could to customize my lesson so that I got the most out of it. This continued even after our class ended for the night. The following morning, I got an email from him that included chords I could practice, finger exercises I could do to increase my dexterity, and even included the chords to a song I had mentioned to him that has been my goal to someday be able to play!

As for Keith, I can not speak more highly of him. He was professional, knowledgeable and engaging. And while it might not apply to me directly, being in education, student safety is always at the forefront of my thoughts. I was pleased to learn that all Music & Arts instructors have background checks performed before they can work with students.

Keith’s attention to detail, his patience, and his encouragement had me smiling by the end of the first lesson. Oddly, because of the craziness of the start of the school year, learning something new and having time just for me has been a wonderful gift. I can’t wait for lesson number two!
