Farm Discovery Kids Program at Wolfe’s Neck

By Wolfe’s Neck Center for Agriculture and the Environment June 24, 2020

After months of being cooped up inside, learning, and spending time with friends at a distance, we all could use some time running around outside. That’s why we at Wolfe’s Neck Center for Agriculture and the Environment are excited to announce our new Farm Discovery Kids program for the 2020 summer season!

Farm Discovery Kids is a safe alternative to our canceled Farm Camp program. It is a micro-program, with sessions running 3-days per week for 2.5 hours each day. Kids ages 6-15 will have the opportunity to dive into a new focus each day, highlighting the many outdoor learning spaces of Wolfe's Neck Center. One day the focus will be on livestock, and participants will get the opportunity to get up close and personal with some of our animals. Another day will focus on gardening and vegetable production; participants will get their hands dirty as they turn compost, weed garden beds, and learn what it takes to grow food. The third day will focus on the local ecosystems found at Wolfe’s Neck; participants might spend time exploring tide pools along the coast or hiking through the forest in search of salamanders.

Programming starts June 30th, with weekly sessions running Tuesday through Thursday until August 20th. Morning sessions are for ages 6-8 and run 9:00am - 11:30am, while afternoon sessions are for ages 9-15, running 1:00pm - 3:30pm. The cost per session is $150, with a $50 deposit required upon registration.

Whether you and your kids are seasoned farmers or agricultural novices, Farm Discovery Kids is right for you! We are excited about this new opportunity, and we look forward to seeing you on the farm soon! If you have questions, please contact our Farm Camp Manager, Molly Cyr, at mcyr@wolfesneck.org
