Creatacard App for iPad from American Greetings

With easy, fun, inexpensive cards that are as unique as your kids

I love cards. With so much of our communication happening via text and emails, I feel like getting a card in the mail or handed to you from a friend feels special. There are beautiful cards, funny cards and sentimental cards and there is a card for just about every occasion. I can spend 30 minutes in the card aisle looking for the perfect card. I’ve tried to instill in my children the importance of communicating properly a thank you, a sentiment that someone is missed or a congratulations on a special occasion. My kids have spent many an hour at the table making cards for birthdays or to thank someone that has done something nice.

My daughter recently had a birthday party she was attending for a friend and when I asked her to take out her craft supplies to make a card she responded for the first time asking if we could just buy one. She was embarrassed by her hand-drawn cards and, while sad, I understood her desire to extend her well wishes in the form she felt comfortable with. It was the perfect opportunity to test out the new Creatacard iPad app from American Greetings

The Creatacard app allows your child to create their own card or choose a ready-made design to personalize. With the apps built-in crayons, paint, stickers, stamps, chalk and more, kids can get creative and have fun with making a super-special card. (And parents aren’t left with a mess!) Photos and other images can also be uploaded to further customize a card. My daughter loved the selection of well-known characters on some of the ready-made designs and she thought decorating the card was a blast.

Best of all, once your child has created a card, you can choose to have it printed on card stock, placed in an envelope and mailed to the recipient, all for $3.49, less than most cards cost in store. The Creatacard app is free in the iTunes Store and the app has built in security so that little ones cannot make and send cards without your permission.

My daughter is looking forward to making more cards and just completed one for Grandparents’ Day (which is September 7). It is a great occasion for your kids to try out the app, too. You can find lots of fun Grandparents’ Day ideas on our Pinterest board
