Think Books for Easter

By Kayt DeMerchant, Publisher April 10, 2014

In my home, we can never go wrong with books as gifts. Here are a few favorites:

Barefoot Books

For a wonderful selection of books that spark imagination, exploration, and creativity, we like Barefoot Books. Local consultant/ambassador Memarie's favorite picks for Easter include Who's in the Garden (ages 1-4), and The Barefoot Book of Earth Tales (ages 5-11). Explore the wide variety of offerings for ages 0 - 12+ at her website: www.memsbarefootbooks.com

Kohl’s Cares Books

Kohl’s Department Stores offers exclusive hardcover beginner books (and coordinating plush toys) for just $5 each. Kids will delight as they begin their journey into independent reading with the exclusive editions of Put Me in the ZooGo. Dog, Go!The Nose Book and Hand, Hand, Fingers, Thumb books. Kohl’s donates 100 percent of the net profit to children’s health and education initiatives nationwide.

Curious Critters Volumes One and Two by David FitzSimmons

Kids will love the beautiful photographs of all sorts of creatures and critters in Volume One and Two of Curious Critters by David FitzSimmons. Each Curious Critter is photographed against a white backdrop, showcasing the animals’ colors, textures, and shapes with precision and clarity. Along with each photo is a vignette, told from the critter’s perspective, that educates and entertains. For example, a bush katydid explains her bubblegum-pink color, a poetic opossum opines upon her often-shortened name, and a far-from-modest black swallowtail butterfly lets readers in on her secret for avoiding predators.

Put Me In The Story
Books

I’ll Never Let You Go and family favorite If I Could Keep You Little, both by Marianne Richmond, make sweet additions to any Easter basket for a little one.  Each title highlights the important relationship between parent and child in unique ways with beautiful pastel watercolor illustrations. Best of all, parents can customize the books with not only their child’s name but a dedication and photograph as well. When I first received If I Could Keep You Little, personalized for my daughter, it brought tears to my eyes. These books are truly beautifully illustrated, written and make for a keepsake that will be treasured always.
