What can YOU build this summer?

By Maine Robotics, Sponsored Advertising Content April 28, 2016
Maine Robotics is Maine’s largest summer academic camp program, established in 2003 to bring STEM programs to Maine youth we now have over 800 student-campers each summer in 30 locations. We focus on technology and fun! Our youth want to spend time learning more about the technology they are growing up with and what better way than spending a week with friends (new and old) as you dive into something new.

We started out with our LEGO robotics program, where campers learn how to build and program a LEGO robot! LEGO has sold millions of their robot kits and we’ve been teaching Maine youth how to get the most out of these kits. It’s a combination of engineering the build, then getting on a computer and programming your robot to behave the way you want it to. There is nothing more powerful to youth than to start with nothing and end up with a creation that works and know that you’ve done all the work to make that happen.

Now we’ve expanded to include programs for youth up to 18 years old. Over the years we’ve added our VEX robotics camp; Programming in Minecraft; Build Your Own Computer Camp (BYOCC), and our newest program: 3D Design and Printing Camp.

We supply all the equipment needed to make these weeks a great experience for your child and staff the camps with classroom educators; college science students; and high school technology students.

Our goals are numerous, but they all are there to benefit youth. We want them to at least understand that engineering and computer programming are fields they might be interested in pursuing, as well as giving them age-appropriate skills to start a journey along that path. We know not everyone will choose to become a STEM professional (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) but they can still have a fun time learning something new and do it in a challenging and mentored environment!
